MARTIN CLARK, Artist Painter
M.A., Adv.Dip.Ed., Cert.Ed.(ADV), Cert. Counselling
Art was my first absorbing interest and I drew constantly as a child. Career paths led me across a wide range of creative roles including initially art teaching, working as an art therapist in a psychiatric setting, to broader educational roles in a primary school setting, a training in psychotherapy and acting as trainer of Leadership Consultants. Latterly I have retrieved my first love of drawing, painting and making collages. Leaving a formal world of work and since 2006 reclaiming my prime interest in art is an exciting journey which has seen a range of new skills and styles building on both my early traditional art schooling and more experimental college development.
I now work in pastel, paint and with collage. I begin from drawings sometimes supported by photographs, often painting with brushes or knives. My interest references the emotional impact of landscapes wild, rural or urban but also people, atmospheres and occasions.
I am a member of, and a former Chairman of, Drawn To The Valley – Artists of the Tamar Valley, a community based group linked with the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with a current membership of well over 100 practising artists. I am also a member of l’Association des Artistes du Cinquieme with whom I also exhibit. Further, I have formerly exhibited with The South West Academy and The St.Ives Society. In December, 2014 I was delighted to be selected to the membership of NAPA(UK) and exhibit with them on an annual basis.
Artworks are currently held in private collections in the U.K. and abroad.
